CVA

CVA is a muzzleloader specialist and one of the reasons in-line ignition took over the category. Their Accura and Optima rifles use a break-action to expose the breech plug, which makes loading, cleaning and unloading vastly less awkward than the traditional side-lock arrangement they replaced.

The practical argument for buying one is season access: many states run a muzzleloader-only season ahead of the general rifle season, on far less crowded ground. CVA also makes the Scout single-shot centrefire rifle, which shares the same break-action and is one of the least expensive routes into a scoped hunting rifle. Whatever the propellant, a muzzleloader put away dirty will pit its bore.
