Handgun parts divide into the ones that improve the gun and the ones that should be left alone. Sights, grips, magazine releases, guide rods and slide stops are straightforward and reversible. Anything that alters how the sear releases is a different category entirely.

Trigger work on a defensive handgun deserves real caution. A lighter connector or a competition trigger group changes the safety margin the manufacturer designed in, and on a carry gun that is a decision with consequences beyond marksmanship. Function-check thoroughly after any internal change, and if a part requires fitting rather than dropping in, it is gunsmithing work.
