Choke Tubes

A choke is a constriction at the muzzle that controls how quickly the shot column spreads. More constriction holds the pattern together for longer range; less lets it open fast for close targets. It is the cheapest way to make one shotgun suit several jobs.

Two cautions. Steel shot does not compress like lead and should not be fired through a full choke in a barrel not rated for it — the usual guidance is modified or more open. And chokes are not universal: Rem Choke, Invector, Invector-Plus, Mobil and Beretta Optima all use different thread patterns, so buy for your specific barrel.
